What's RCA, and Why Should I Use It?

USA Materials is home to a state-of-the-art aggregate production facility, focusing on the production of recycled concrete aggregates. With the Construction Demolition and Recycling Association estimating that over 140 million tons of concrete are recycled every year in the U.S., it’s important that we educate on why it should be.

Our customers are benefitting from noticeable savings on their projects by using recycled concrete aggregates versus quarried stone. This is due to the reduction of transportation and disposal costs, along with the fact that RCAs yield 15% or more volume by weight over quarried stone.

Natural resources are conserved seeing that upcycling a product is far more efficient than creating a new one. Recycled concrete aggregates ensure that landfill space is not mindlessly taken up by a product that can easily be reused. Concrete is not biodegradable and takes up a lot of space, leading to environmental concerns later down the line. Energy is also conserved by the reduction of trucks needed throughout the process.

Whether you are a contractor or updating the outside of your home, recycled concrete can be used in a multitude of ways. USA Materials is actively recycling, so no matter the size or amount, we can supply you with the proper materials.
  
How It’s Done
Materials are loaded into our crushers and screeners, which are fitted with electromagnetic belts. This process separates the metal and debris from the crushed material. The metal is then recycled and sold for scrap. The crushed material is checked by quality control inspectors to ensure that it is pure and maintains the high standard that USA Materials expects from our products.   ​
